I needed a simple app that helped me keep track of my budget. This one works wonderfully!
I had a bit of trouble setting up the income and envelope-filling part of the app, but after that it was easy. After one month of using, we have stuck to our goals and saved a lot. This app is much easier and more effective than saving receipts or using a bank app. I like having the control of choosing which envelope the funds come from. My husband got on board too and we both now get nerdily excited about adding our transactions and staying in-budget.
Works well for me with budgeting, very handy. The computer based website partners with the app so well!
Name says it all. Figuring out how to add money/ adjust budgets mid month or start a month new was extremely confusing and not worth the time.
I have used, or tried to used, this app for a whole month. I like the app and it would really make my life so much more simple. The only problem is that the app keeps crashing and if I reopen it it crashes again. A couple of hours later I can open the app with no problem but the whole idea with the app is that I write my expenses down right away. Not an hour or day later. Then I could just use a old spreadsheet to do the job. Please fix the app and I will give you guys a five star rating because the idea behind the app is brilliant.
If you can make your own excel sheet, or use actual, physical envelopes, it would be way smarter and way easier than using this app. Save yourself the nuisance have setting it up to their way, and set your envelopes or excel sheets up to fit your own way. Where again was adding initial amount? I didnt realize I could meet my budget amount simply by adding the initial amount. I can fix it by just adjusting the needed amount envelope wise right? Wrong. Waste of time and effort.
Anyone with the most basic Excel knowledge could create what the free version does. Unless you want to pay the monthly fee its sort of a waste of time.
We struggled with credit card debt for years, until this app. Ive been using it forever and absolutely love it! We were paid off in a year once my husband and I downloaded it.
This is the most useful app I have. Its helped me stay focused on where my money goes, and its even like a game to sort out my paycheck! I no longer live paycheck to paycheck, but Im aware of how much money I have for different things. Goodbudget is a game changer!
Great product. Not always intuitive. Customer service was patient and helpful. If they had videos or were more intuitive would give 5 stars.
Does what it is supposed to.
At first it was great until I got paid. Trying to reset my expenses is difficult, and when you start a new pay period it doesnt fill all of your budget. It knows when I get paid and how much so why doesnt it do it itself? And what about rent and phone bills, stuff that only comes out once a month when you get paid bi-weekly is impossible for me to figure out how to get it set up properly. Make a tutorial on how to use this thing properly because right now not impressed.
Ive tried a ton of all the popular budgeting tools and this one is so simple and so good. It isnt too smart for its own good (ahem, mint) and it is super intuitive. It doesnt link with your bank account to automatically download transactions, but for me thats a good thing because it keeps me more actively involved with the money management process. When it auto-syncs and auto-categorizes, its easier to forget about it and not realize where youre at in the month until its really too late to do anything about it.
Currently taking Financial Peace and trying to create a budget. Really helps with tracking how much we spend and where.
I went through 3 budget programs and none of them worked for me. Either they didnt allow you to choose biweekly pay periods or they didnt rollover your money month to month or it forced you to connect your bank account. I was about to go back to a good ol spread sheet when I found this! It allows you to input payments without waiting for it to process. also allows you to Set your budget to weekly ,biweekly etc. rolls over your money and you can connect you bank account if you want to! absolutely everything you need with no extra. Exactly like the envelope system without having to carry around all that cash.Perfect.
Great, easy way to keep track of your spending.
I like how it works both on the Internet and the iPhone. I like that recurring expenses work seamlessly. It has a very easy interface to use. I switched from another budget app and Im so glad that I did.
You have to pay to have more than 10 budget items. Immediately deleted the app.
UPDATE: Over three years now. Just put my two teenagers on their own free accounts to get them each started. If you need someone to tell you, get rid of you spread sheets, the "track my spending" apps, and Quicken Home versions and get a paid-for GoodBudget account and use the app and web versions. We are much wiser about our mandatory vs discretionary spending--it was tight but we even planned and were able to go to NYC for Thanksgiving week last fall! Thanks, GoodBudget digital envelope system!!! You Rock! ----- Over two years now and its still great. Latest update looks and works great on my iPhone 6. The app is the best and the concept is even better. Our budget is better for it. ----- Better than ever with the minor bug fixes. ----- Love the concept and the execution of sharing virtual envelopes with my wife (also iPhone). We did the trial and I knew this was the one. Love the "green is good" feedback. Bar graph turns painfully red for envelope that budget is over-drawn. It works for us. Full envelope management (name, rename, sort order they appear, and more ) all available. Near real-time sync (pull to push update, if needed ).
Just wanted a simple budget app thats easy to use and doesnt become a hassle to use. This one is a little funny to setup at beginning of each month, but not bad, and I think still the best available. Each transaction only takes 5 seconds to enter, and I love the way it syncs between my wife and I so we work off the same family budget.
